10th LADIES ROLLER HOCKEY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 25th September till 2nd October 2010 in Alcobendas, Spain

CIRH wants to communicate that RFEP will organize the 10thLadies Roller HockeyWorld Championship in the city of Alcobendas (nearby Madrid), from 25th September till 2nd October 2010.

CIRH kindly asks the Federations to pre inscribe as soon as possible to guarantee a good organization of this event.

Rules Of The Game (Thanks to Nelson)

Here is my gripe of the day, and it’s one that I have had for years now yet it has never been resolved:

These are the two (? – why two?) logos that are used to represent our sport on the rollersports.teamusa.org website. I have no idea why, but maybe if more people complained about it, it would be fixed. Short and sweet, one player is holding a long stick and the other a rink hockey stick.

Here is a link to the just released/updated Rules Of The Game Of Rink Hockey. I’m not to excited about the quality of the presentation, but it’s better than nothing. Hopefully I will find a higher quality version soon.

UPDATE: the information below has yet to be confirmed by CIRH so it may or may not be correct. Additionally, the month of October is still speculation so do not take it as fact. Here is an official letter confirming the 2010 Woman’s Rink Hockey World Championships will be held in Spain, but no dates are established yet. People in the “know” feel it will be sometime in October. The letter was translated from Spanish to English so some of it might be “lost in translation”:

Spain will host the 2010 World Championship Hockey skid-female. In the coming weeks RFEP confirm both dates as the World Cup venues. After the success in organizing the 2009 World Championship in Vigo, has CIRH confirmed to the Royal Spanish Skating Federation as the organizer of the next World Championship women’s roller hockey. In the coming weeks RFEP confirm both dates as the world headquarters. Thus the RFEP, a championship again at the highest level after organize in 2009 Men’s World Championship in Vigo and Pontevedra, and in 2008 the Men’s European Championships in Oviedo. Spain is the current World Champion after winning the last edition in Yuri-Honjo (Japan) to Portugal in the final. The National team coach will have the great Joan Solé opportunity to defend the world’s biggest title at home with the support of his hobby, although that does not ensure victory in any case, since only in Chile 2006 and Argentina 1998 the title was ended by awarding the organizer. This will be the first time Spain organizes women’s World Championship, although it had organized above two Europeans (1995 and 2007) of which also failed to win any. Since the inception of the World Championship in 1992, Spain was the country most often You’ve earned it with four titles and was closely followed by Argentina, with three titles. Both combined have been the only ones in the championship consecutively in once, but if they beat Spain in the next round of 2010, would be the first making it twice. The next meeting of the Spanish selection will be the European Championships which begin on Monday in the French town of Saint-Omer.

1. Closing balance in Foundation account as of 9/30 is $2,126.00

2. Bill Sisson will give a report to the USARS Board at the October Meeting regarding the number of teams at Nationals and the success of our first Skill Development Clinic with 17 participants; this Clinic, and possibly others, will be held again the day before Nationals begin in 2010.

3. Jimmy has not been able to assemble a team to compete in the 2009 Men’s South American Club Championship in San Juan, Argentina, November 23rd through 28th, so the U.S. will not be participating in this invitational Tournament.

4. 2010 Nationals will be held Sunday, July 11th through Friday, July 16th in Bremerton, Washington. The address of the rink is: 1740 NE Fuson Rd., Bremerton, WA 98311. Meetings and Clinics will be held on Saturday, July 10th. Officials will be named at the February USARS Board Meeting. A “sign-up sheet” for “Tryouts” for both the Men’s and Ladies’ World Teams will be posted at the beginning of Nationals. Final selection and announcement of both Teams will be on either Friday, July 16th or Saturday, July 17th, depending on how many teams register to play at Nationals.

5. The new rules have not been officially approved by the CIRH, but will be and will be posted to the official web site in November. There are variations of the rules currently being proposed by several different countries. For the best explanation on the new rules, go to, http://cerh.eu/en/ .
