<p>The 50th edition of the National Rink Hockey Championships came to an end Friday, July 16th after six days of great rink hockey, featuring lots of fun, good sportsmanship, tough competition and exciting games. <p>In Bremerton, Washington the weather is heating up, but not as fast and hot as the competition in Bremerton Skateland where they are holding the 2010 National Rink Hockey Championships. The Tournament started on Sunday, July 11th and will continue through Friday, July 16th. We witnessed another day of surprises, fast paced games, two more exciting overtime games, Freshman Division coming to an end and two good Ladies games. This was quite a day filled with high quality, fiercely competitive rink hockey. The results for Wednesday were: </p>

<p>Tuesday, the third day of the 2010 US Rink Hockey National Championships, came to an exciting conclusion with two great Ladies games. On top of the two very exciting sudden death games earlier in the day, it turned out to be a fast paced, highly competitive day of rink hockey. <li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Treasurer’s report:<br />
  Jim J.  Withdrawal of $300 for participation fee for one team at the<br />
  Open International Tournament in Barcelona, reimbursing Jimmy T. $200<br />
  and Barb, $100.  Each of the players, coaches and Barb contributed<br />
  10 Euros each to pay the other team’s fee; these fees are necessary<br />
  so that the country hosting these tournaments can receive money from<br />
  their government to help cover their expenses.</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Minutes of prior<br />
  Conference Calls have been posted on P.J.’s and USARS’ web sites.</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">We are still waiting<br />
  for approval to use the USOC “mark” on our “How to Start. . .”<br />
  booklet, stationary and fax forms.  They are changing from a wreath<br />
  to a “mark” and this process will be completed soon.  Bill<br />
  is following up on this with Richard Hawkins.</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Open International<br />
  Tournament in Barcelona, June 21<sup>st</sup> – 27<sup>th</sup>.<br />
  Frankie and Jimmy</font></li>
<ol type="a">
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Having all of our<br />
    expenses paid made it possible for our teams to participate and gain<br />
    valuable international experience.</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Teams got their<br />
    first exposure to the “new” rules.</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Participating countries<br />
    were:  Men’s Teams from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica,<br />
    Ecuador, Germany, South Africa, U.S.A. and Uruguay; Ladies’ Teams<br />
    from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Germany, U.S.A. and Uruguay.  Colombia<br />
    had hoped to send a Men’s Team and Costa Rica, a Ladies’ Team, but<br />
    were unable to do so.  The fact that Teams came from Ecuador, Uruguay<br />
    and a new program in Costa Rica is a wonderful indication of our sport<br />
    strengthening and expanding in the South/Central American region.<br />
    Panama is also actively working on starting a new program.  This<br />
    can only strengthen our position regarding consideration for inclusion<br />
    in the Pan American Games.</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">It was great for<br />
    the Men’s and Ladies’ teams to see each other play and support each<br />
    other.  This is the first time they have had this opportunity.<br />
    Future tournaments will be held separately.</font></li>

    will be used.  But, <b>again</b>, <b>it</b> <b>is</b> <b>extremely</b> <b><br />
    important</b> <b>for</b> <b>everyone</b> <b>to</b> <b>read</b> <b>the</b><br />
    “<b>new</b>” <b>rules</b> <b>which</b> <b>are</b> <b>posted</b> <b></p>
<p>    on</b> <b>both</b> P.J.’s <b>and</b> <b>USARS’</b> <b>web</b> <b><br />
    sites</b> <b>BEFORE</b> <b>arriving</b> <b>at</b> <b>Nationals</b> <b></p>
<p>    so</b> <b>that</b> <b>discussions</b> <b>will</b> <b>be</b> <b>more</b> <b><br />
    productive</b>.  The Men’s and Ladies’ teams which went to<br />
    Barcelona will be playing “exhibition” games so everyone can see<br />
    how the changes in rules affect how the game is played.</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Schedule for Nationals:</font></li>

      p.m.:  Club team practice time – needs to be scheduled with Frankie</font></li>

      Referees and Coaches Meeting, discussion of “new” vs. “old”<br />
      rules, etc.</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">5:00 p.m.:<br />
      General Meeting; among topics will be a discussion of the proposed Age<br />
      and Division Changes </font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">8:30 p.m.:<br />
      Men’s Open Tryout for Team USA</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">There will be no<br />
      teams participating from other countries.</font></li>

<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">TravMed insurance<br />
  is now MANDATORY for all players and Staff participating in international<br />
  tournaments.  It has been required by Speed, Artistic and Inline<br />
  Hockey for several years.  It is only $3 per day.  Any player<br />
  who does not purchase this insurance will be replaced by the next ranked<br />
  player.  If anyone already has the same type of insurance, this<br />
  information must be given to Peggy Young at USARS to make sure it meets<br />
  all of the necessary requirements.</font></li>
<li><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">2010 Ladies’ WC,<br />
  Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain, September 25<sup>th</sup> – October 2<sup>nd</sup>.<br />
  Depart from the U.S. on Monday, September 20<sup>th</sup> and from Madrid<br />
  on Sunday, October 3<sup>rd</sup>.</font></li>

<p>On Tuesday, July 12th, the weather in Bremerton, Washington was overcast, rainy and cool, but the weather inside Bremerton Skateland was hot and fierce with competition at the 49th Edition of the National Rink Hockey Championships. Today, the second day of competition, was filled with 19 games played in eight different divisions, an Opening Ceremony featuring the Navy and Marine Silent Drill Team, recognition of some of the special people in our sport, a warm friendly welcome from the Mayor of Bremerton and a unique presentation of our National Anthem by Donna Baldwin. What a great day for long time hockey players, spectators, and newcomers to our sport. The results for Monday were: </p>

<p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">The 49<sup>th</sup> Edition of the US National Rink Hockey Championships got underway Sunday, July 11<sup>th</sup> at Bremerton Skateland in Bremerton, Washington. The Championships will continue through Friday, July 16<sup>th</sup> with over 35 Teams competing in eight different age divisions. The last game of the day was an exhibition game composed of players trying out for the USA Men’s World Rink Hockey Team. The game not only allowed the coaches and players to work together more, but it was also played under the new rules of the game that will go into effect on January 1, 2011. It was a great opportunity for the Hockey Community to be introduced to the new “Rules of the Game.” The results for Sunday were:</font>
