Meetings will be on Saturday, July 10th
b. “Old rules”
will be used.
c. Scheduling
of seminars for Referees, then Referees and Coaches to discuss the “New
Rules.” It is extremely important for everyone to have read
the revised rules posted on both P.J.’s and USARS’ website BEFORE
arriving at Nationals so you can ask knowledgeable questions and have
relevant discussions.
Seminar
times and days will be announced at a later date.

Mini-Camps and announcing final selection for both the Ladies' and Men’s

proposal was discussed. Don will rewrite his proposal and re-submit
it at the next meeting.
h. Is there any
interest in inviting teams from other countries to participate?
Committee
recommended that other countries be invited to our Nationals to provide
experience to our teams.
i. Skill Development
Clinic will be held again in 2010. Daniel V. would like for us
to consider the following:
i.
Dividing the Clinic into Beginner and Intermediate levels, and possibly
adding an Experienced level, as well.
ii. Holding
a Coaches’ Clinic
Possibility of
holding Clinics in the 3 major regions, not just at Nationals
Tabled
until the next meeting.
4. “Let’s Play Hockey
Expo” in Las Vegas, January 25th – 28th.
Barb, Daniel and, hopefully, Bill will be attending, as well as Francesco
Rossi, 1st VP of C.I.R.H. We will be meeting with George
Kolibaba the evening of January 26th to give Francesco and
George the opportunity to meet for the first time and discuss USARS’
future plans for Rink Hockey.
5. Pan American Championships,
April 24th – May 1st: Chances are slim
that Rink Hockey will be included, but participating sports have not
been announced yet.
6. USARS Board Meeting,
April 23rd -25th
in Las Vegas. RSA will hold their annual Conference, April 25th
– 29th at the same location. Specific Exhibition
dates to be determined. We hope to have a booth. So far
Jim (Jost), Barb, Daniel, Cheri Lewis and Yvvonne Ashlock hope to be
staffing our booth, as well as a couple of players to demonstrate our
equipment. Others are welcome to help; please email Barb (bbbrooksao@aol.com) if you are interested. Toby
and Tom Hughes also expressed interest in helping.
The Committee
discussed the fact that there is no information currently on line for
this convention. Jim stated he would need to know by April if the booth
is a go. Barb and Jim will continue to seek information on the Convention.
7. South American Open
International Tournaments (formerly Copa America) – both Ladies’
and Men’s, will take place in Barcelona, Spain in June (no specific
dates have been determined). The U.S. will be sending both a Ladies’
and Men’s team.
Committee requested
that Barb ask what "incentives" can be acquired for attendance
of any U.S. teams to these types of international tournaments. Barb
will report back.
8. 2010 Ladies’ WC,
Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain, September 25th – October 2nd.
a.
Staff: Coach, Frankie Lee; Assistance Coach, Daniel Vianna; Manager,
Tom Hughes; Trainer, hopefully Gina Gerona.
b. No Training
Camps will be scheduled. Preparation will occur at the South American
Open International Tournament in Barcelona.
9. 2010 Men’s “B”
WC: October 24th – 30th, Dornbirn, Austria.
a.
Staff: Coach, Jimmy Trussell; Assistant Coaches Pat Ferguson and
Daniel Vianna; Manager, Don Allen; Goalkeeper Coach, Ron Torvik; Trainer,
hopefully Rob Murphy.
b.
Training Camp. TBA, but may not be scheduled because of other
tournaments in Bremerton, Burlington and the South American Open International
Tournament in Barcelona.
10. Sanctioning of Tournaments
and the requirement of USARS membership cards. Bill
The Committee discussed
how to get rinks and players to purchase USARS membership cards.
There are still non-sanctioned tournaments being held where players
are not registered with USARS. In an attempt to increase Rink
Hockey membership, USARS has waived its sanctioning fee for all Rink
Hockey tournaments. In order for USARS benefits (athlete accident
insurance and venue liability insurance), all participants would have
to be USARS members. USARS hopes this will increase membership,
lower expenses for tournament directors and give the members the benefits
of the insurance, in addition to receiving the Magazine. By increasing
membership dollars, more money may be available in the future to assist
in the support of Rink Hockey programs, i.e., marketing and promotion,
assisting with World Team expenses and added benefits to members.
Due to insurance restrictions, USARS is not able to extend insurance
coverage to non-sanctioned tournaments or non-registered members.
11. Rink hockey pins
for distribution at international tournaments. Jim J. Still checking.
12. Barb emailed revised
Directories January 12th to everyone who has an email address.
She included contact information for Cheri Lewis and Yvvonne Ashlock
who are in charge of fund-raising, sponsorship and grant opportunities.
13. Please check out
Tom Hughes’ articles on pages 17 – 22 of the Fall 2009 edition of
the USARS Magazine! They are wonderful!

- Testing of Rink
Hockey Coaches will be discussed after we know more about the USARS
reorganization of the various sports. Bill - USARS is currently
interviewing candidates to coordinate administrative responsibilities
for Rink and Inline Hockey. - “Athlete of the
Month” featured on USARS and P.J.’s website needs more biographies
from players. Please take the time to complete the form under
the USARS website and get these to Peggy Young at USARS. - See the CIRH website

reported that both Duane and Gary will be available to referee at the
2010 Nationals. - There
is a annual 10 & under international tournament held in San Juan,
Argentina each year in December. The Committee recommended we approach
players and parents at the 2010 Nationals to see if there is interest
in sending a U.S. team.
