The Minutes of the November 16th Conference Call were misplaced during Jim. J.’s office move, and were not located.
Regarding Nationals, June 21st – 26th: The men’s World Team Selection Camp will be/rollersports.teamusa.org/event/event/1086 (under “Events” then “Rink Hockey”). held June 19th and 20th. Update on the foreign teams wishing to participate are the Mexico Jaguars, Austria, and possibly India and Australia. Regarding the venue, the floor is wood and is marked in colors. The dimensions are 160’ x 70’. It seats 1,500 in a hockey configuration. Don is trying to arrange for a photographer to be there and someone who can video tape games.
Fund Raising and Sponsorship help: Cheri Lewis of Olympia, WA and Yvvonne Ashlock of Alvord, TX will be spearheading this effort. I anyone has any ideas you would like for them to consider, their contact information is as follows: Cheri: (C) 360-789-1947, email: Cheri@reachonetravel.com and Yvvonne, (H) 940-427-8323, (C) 940-255-9759, email: itsmeyvvonne@aol.com.
We talked about how many people who are organizing tournaments are remembering to request an additional $2 per person contribution to go into our Foundation account.
IMPORTANT: It is extremely important for ALL club members, players and coaches and referees, to renew or purchase their USARS Rink Hockey membership cards ASAP to reflect the actual number of participants in Rink Hockey. When so few people get cards, it reflects inaccurately and very negatively on our sport and will keep us from being considered for any financial support, about which a lot of people complain.. For instance, Bill said less than 300 hockey cards were issued in 2008, including the ones at Nationals. We all know that figure should be at least three to four times that amount. This practice has hurt us substantially in the past and continues to do so. We do have the possibility of receiving funding if our membership numbers more accurately reflect our actual numbers. A membership year is now a calendar year, so renew or purchase you card now. You can do so online.
The Winter issue of USARS Magazine will have a split cover and articles for both the Ladies’ and Men’s World Championships.
Pat moved and Toby seconded the motion that the Committee accept P.J. Mueller’s resignation from the Hockey Committee so that he can spend more time with his family. The motion massed unanimously. Pat then moved and Toby seconded that Frankie Lee be re-elected to the Committee; this motion also passed unanimously.
The Men’s “A” WC will be in Vigo/Pontevedra, Spain. The first Training Camp and Selection Camp is January 29th – February 1st in Salt Lake City. This Camp has been posted on both P.J.’s web site, www.usarinkhockey.com, and the USARS/USOC web site, http: //rollersports.teamusa.org/event/event/1086 (under “Events” then “Rink Hockey”). Also, Peggy Young from USARS and Jimmy have sent emails containing Camp information to all players who have expressed interest in participating and for whom they have a correct email address. Don has also called all coaches to remind them about the Selection Camp so they can make sure any of their interested players will be there. If anyone has not received this information and would like to participate, please contact Don Allen, (C) 940-394-6064 or Jimmy Trussell at (C) 801-915-4159 ASAP as well as Peggy at (0) 404-483-7551 so she can mail all of the player information to you to be completed and turned in to Don at the Camp
We are encouraging World Team Members to request Trav/Med insurance which is mandatory for Speed, Artistic and Inline Hockey World Teams. The cost is only $3 per day.
There is a possibility of preliminary Pan American Games participation by both Men and Ladies Rink Hockey teams this summer. Dates and participation are presently unknown, but Bill and Barb are working on getting this information
The dates for the Ladies’ Copa America tournament in Colombia are possibly one of the last two weeks in July, but these will depend on the dates for the possible Pan Am “prelims” participation.
Regarding possible sites for future Nationals, Barb asked if anyone knows how progress is coming along with the rink in the new Sports Complex in Reno. A year or so ago, someone had suggested that as a possible location we should consider. No one knew the answer to this question.
USARS has been an exhibitor for several years at the International Hockey Expo held annually in Las Vegas. Since both Daniel Vianna and Barb are now working on marketing and program development projects for C.I.R.H, our international governing body, they thought it important to attend this Expo to gather information that might be applicable to our sport and observe how various products are marketed.
Our February Conference call will be February 21st, 1:00 p.m. E.S.T.

Barb Brooks
