HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2008 Ladies World Roller Hockey Championships came to an end at the Yuri-Honjo Central Gymnasium in Yuri-Honjo, Japan Saturday evening October 11th. The Ladies from Spain took home the Title, followed by Portugal, then Argentina and the surprise of the Tournament, Team USA ended up in fourth place. This was quite a feat for a very young inexperienced USA Team composed of six rookies and four veteran players. This was a great Tournament for Team USA. They advanced further than any other U.S. Hardball Roller Hockey Team has ever gotten in an “A” Tournament, but at the same time, the Ladies thought they would go further up the ladder. They were a little disappointed that they didn’t Medal. Given their average age and first year status, they did a great job. Their future in our sport looks bright and promising for them. For the other Teams from all over the world, Look out! Here comes the USA Ladies Team of the future!
