ROLLER HOCKEY

From the United States to Mendoza

The president of the Hardball Roller Hockey and the Team USA’s technical adviser met yesterday with leaders of the local association.

After attending the extraordinary congress of the Confederation of South American Patín (CSP) held in the city of Iquique, Chile; Barbara Brooks, president of the Hardball Roller Hockey (HRH), and Daniel Vianna, current technical adviser for the United States national teams landed in our province to meet with the authorities of the Association Mendocina de Patín (AMP).

Both explained to “Más Deportes” the reasons for their trip, also talked about the need to create ties of trade and detailed some of its plans to develop roller hockey in the northern country.

“The incorporation of the United States to South American Roller Skating Confederation, as an adherent member, it is a fact. Only subtraction finish completing some details of protocol,” said Daniel Vianna.

Former YPF club’s player and captain of the Selection of Mendoza in 1991, added: “The original motive of the trip was to participate in the congress of the Confederation and chat with the authorities of the Association Mendocina to establish ties. We are interested to promote competition for our teams and incorporate them in international tournaments. Our selections must wait two years before they can participate in a World Cup, that is why joining the Continental bloc is a big step for us.”

“With Mendoza we would like to establish a permanent contact and exchange players and technicians,” concluded Vianna.

“From the Hardball Roller Hockey (Federation which houses the roller hockey in the United States) we want integration with other federations to stimulate the development of our players and technical bodies. In southern states such as Texas, Utah and Miami there are flourishing many hockey teams. That is why the exchange of experience with more developed regions sport in the future will enable us to grow our national league. A stimulus would also have an impact on the level of our national teams”, said Barbara Brooks.

“We launched our federation call for a major boost of roller hockey. It is a discipline that is gaining the attention of the athletes and the spectators. In the Latin community in Miami, a group of Colombians created a team to compete. Our job now is to help consolidate the group and build a league in that area”, said the president of the HRH.
